Strictly Business #32: Aruna Sharma

Arena Sharma // Mother. Founder „INDIE HAUS“.

I am an ordinary woman, just like you trying to write an extraordinary story about myself in this foreign country. I always thought that a person like me can only do a 9 to 5 job. But after I became a mother my thoughts changed  and I wanted to do something that gives me freedom of time  and makes me the happiest. Being an Environmental Engineer and my love for textiles I started my brand to create and design products which are sustainable and  safe for our mother planet. I bring the most  beautiful home linen from my home country India , which are made by the talented artisans using an ancient art of handblock printing  which is passed from generation to generation. I feel proud to represent this art form on an international platform. All products in our online store are hand made with love and pride.
Starting the business was not so easy for me as language is the main barrier, I am still looking for the fundings and support for my small business. Each step was hard from getting my business registered, starting an online store and then a pop-up store at TARA BASE in BIKINI BERLIN mall. But still I am working on my dreams so that one day my daughters will say that their mother stood for herself. I design, I create, I travel , I learn, I work hard but this is all personal . What pays off is when my clients are happy with my products and they bring smiles on their faces. I believe in hope. It’s not about creating a net worth, it’s about a woman creating self worth in a foreign country. One of the most important jobs you will ever do is to follow your heart, live with less but with contentment.
I really encourage all the humans out there to not be scared with language and people, if you are really passionate about your ideas and work then stand for yourself and yes, you can start your own little world, your own business, because if i can do it, you can, too.
I am a very emotional person with a huge love for my culture, so it makes me so proud  and happy to share it with all the beautiful people out there, that’s why you can see my brand name , it’s a fusion. My aim is to create modern homes with a touch of tradition – INDIE HAUS.
