Accessibility information about our space
BIWOC* Rising offers a space for a variety of organisers to realise their events and different formats. As a venue, we continuously strive to make our events more accessible and to communicate questions about accessibility as timely and transparently as possible.
Getting here / leaving
When using public transportation: The nearest subway station is U Kottbusser Tor (U8/U3/U1), located 140 m from BIWOC* Rising. There are several escalators and an elevator in the station. Additionally, there are several bus stops served by several lines in the surrounding area. For information on accessibility when using public transportation, please refer to the VBB website: Link to VBB Accessibility Page
Parking
There is no parking in front of the main entrance of the building.
Access to the building and our space (elevator)
The entrance area is approximately 12.0 m from the gate and requires crossing an unevenness of about 2 cm. Although we do not have a regular elevator, we can provide a freight elevator upon request. The entrance door and the door to the stairwell of the building are not equipped with electronic openers. Opening the doors requires greater physical effort.
Inside the BIWOC* Rising space
Unfortunately, we do not have an accessible toilet. The door to the toilet is *** wide. The main space, meeting room, and kitchen are relatively spacious. The doors to the kitchen and meeting room are *** cm wide. There are no uneven surfaces inside the space. The door frames are marked with bright tape to improve visibility.
Early boarding and seating
For people who require a specific seat or a relaxed way to enter and get settled in the space, we offer the option of early boarding. Please speak to our event care team directly at the event or contact our team in advance.
In our premises, there are the following seating options: chairs and couches.
Masks
Generally people do not wear masks indoors when using the co-working space and office. At events and special gatherings, whether attendants are asked to wear a mask depends on whether at least one person stated masks as an access requirement.
There are spray bottles of disinfectant throughout the space and everyone is required to wipe desks etc after use.
Sign language
For most events, unfortunately, unless otherwise indicated, there is no sign language interpreter, due to budget constraints.
Quiet zone
There is a quiet room for people to retreat to if they wish.
