Workshop: know your rights!

KNOW YOUR RIGHTS! The Future of Germany’s AGG Reform

with Hamza Barashed
& Nadiye Ünsal

The Future of Germany’s AGG Reform
The General Equal Treatment Act (AGG), implemented in Germany in 2006, was designed to combat discrimination. In almost 18 years of practical experience, the weaknesses of the AGG are widely known: The law does not protect all those affected by discrimination, it does not apply in every area of life and it has many gaps in protection. In this workshop we want to look at these gaps in legal protection but also take a look at the demands of the initiative „Bündnis AGG-Reform Jetzt!“ that is fighting for a reform of the AGG. What is the potential of such a reform?“

INTERSECTIONAL WORK & SOCIAL CLUB

BIWOC* Rising is the first intersectional co-working space & social club in Berlin and Germany. This safer space is exclusively for women, trans, inter and non-binary people who identify as Black, indigenous or of Colour! Through training programs, empowerment workshops, and a work-desk in the heart of Berlin-Kreuzberg, BIWOC* Rising is creating a new working culture – a working culture that transcends the white, homogenous, capitalist one that has been a core driver of gentrification and marginalization in Berlin.
